Test fd made now during working hours. Email alert came for funds withdrawal. So that's nice.

I chose SBI when I had to create a govt bank account too. Had some trouble because I had digital bank account with them, which was deactivated and it took them several days (& having to visit branch daily, visiting different counters and the dead-like manager) to reactivate that and convert it to regular savings account.

Overall, have not had much issues with their netbanking or their app once the account was created. Only UPI server being down at times, but it is my secondary account, so it is fine.

So... App shows that my account is also digital savings account. Do I need to get it converted to regular savings account as well? What's the difference? They did issue me a passbook but there has been no information about debit card and cheque book 🧐

Key Differences

Feature Digital Savings Account Regular Savings Account
Account Opening Online, no branch visit Requires branch visit
Debit Card Virtual debit card Physical debit card
Transactions Free online transactions Potential charges for some transactions
Accessibility Anytime, anywhere access Limited to branch hours
KYC Can be completed online May require physical verification
Minimum Balance May not require a minimum balance May require a minimum balance

lol you should not have opted for SBI, maybe they get some incentive on branch level for digital savings account opening. Or save them some paperwork. Just check there is no txn limits.

Personalized cheque book and debit card can only be sent via post right? there should be some sms when dispatched.

Would visit someday and enquire if it's possible to convert it to regular savings account 🤷🏼

Lady basically said that since I would be using the app so it's just easier for me to make account using app.

She didn't enter any referral code so I doubt they benefit through this route.

@Zuke might be able to highlight why he got it converted to regular savings account. I mean I don't really need cheque book or debit card but it would be nice to have. Debit is needed for upi activation 👹

My primary need can be fulfilled by online and mobile banking 🫥

@Sushubh I think you can setup upi pin using Bhim app and aadhar also . No need for debit card.
It works for some banks , not all

Yeah It did ask card type during the account opening wizard. Rupay was the top choice. I picked visa. Just no notification that it has been sent by post or anything. Dekhe 🤡
