My experience with Tata Sky + HD

The Sky+ box was made by reputable company and i think, it is the same box used by Sky UK.
But the Tata Sky + HD is made by no-name company.

Its made by Pace a UK based well known STB manufaturer, but the the Indian supply is from its thailand factories.

At the time of installing Tata Sky SD set top box - I satisfied both audio and video were superb quality output during May 2014..
But after upgrading to TATASKY HD set top box - the video quality is ok...but audio is not upto the mark... simply we can say like old radio sound...
Several times I switched over from Dolby degital and Dolby degital+ from PCM sound settings...
No effect... No impact on any sound settings...
I am not satisfying the sound quality of TATA SKY HD set top box..
The TATA SKY should kindly arrange to check both audio and video quality in all sorts of set top box and do the necessary modifications immediately without any compromise...it should be on par with world audio and video quality output STANDARDS ..
THANKS

the hardware is not capable enough. we cannot blame Tata Sky. by providing stb's at low rate they cannot give high quality hardware.
tata sky HD+ box which cost 4500rs is having good sound and video quality but that is costly.

Even binge plus stb is having awesome picture clarity. sound is good as per my experience.

Hardware is not the issue...

If STB can show 1 channel at good quality it can show any other channel too.

It's Tata Play doing the extra compression for low resolutions for some channels.

I have compared the video quality of SD channels on HD panna box and binge plus box. Difference is there.

binge plus video quality of SD is much much better than panna box.

though i agree that Tata Sky is using high compression these days and quality is not as par as it was few years back. Gsat 24 is launched but not handed over to tata play yet. Once it is under tata plays hands compression issue will be fixed and clarity of all channels will increase. No idea what is the delay

Isn't binge plus a streaming box?

I have a couple of DVR boxes, one is an old dual tuner which requires 2 inputs, the other called Transfer box which has 3 tuners but just require 1 input.

I've noticed not all HD channels are as sharp as a few of the better ones like Sony BBC Earth and travel xp.

SD channels of course look not so great but at least all of the ones I watch are decent.

This is on both my STBs.
