Hey guys, so i have an excitel fibre connection and they put a router through which it comes to my router from which i use my connection. My internet connection keeps dropping in the middle for like 2 mins and then back on. at first i thought it was my router (Asus RT-AX82U) and tried to collect logs. i understood its not, and i see their router restarting when this happens sometimes. They even changed the router and its the same. i notice that it usually happens at around night time. maybe thats just what i am thinking or maybe it does have a timely down time.

I have collected logs from their router which i am attaching to this. and the down time was 2022-09-26 00:33

please check the logs and help me figure out what this might be?

thanks alot!

This is very common with Excitel. They uptime/reliability is very poor, and i always recommend them as a secondary provider and never a primary one.

If you were having frequent drops, i would have suggested to change the ONT power supply. But since this is happening once in 24 hours, most likely their network is to blame.

If this happens at very specific times and every day, then it's likely the ISP might have implemented a PPPoE session expiry refresh timer.
My old ISP which was a self maintained local internet used to do this and that was at 4.30 AM every day, internet down for about 2 minutes. You can contact your LCO about the same, or even the ISP itself.

If the above is true, there is not really much you can do, since some do for client session refresh purposes and some do to perform a restart in the internal system services.

Hi,
I just created a account just for you. Its my first message/reply, so sorry for that if something is not good with community ethics. I was trying to find answer regarding port forwarding and not found answers well anywhere and lands here.

I was facing a same issue like this. I was so frustrating when in call/meeting and suddenly call gets disconnect for a while

What I do is:

1. First find what is the actual cause for you. Check session usage time using my excitel app/site, There is a reason like Admin Reset/Lost Carrier. Most of the time is Admin Reset to me. Lost carrier sometimes found when LCO do some work with cables. User Request found when router restart.
If nothing found and your session is still active it is just the issue with DHCP or router memory is full. If it is (Admin Reset), then its not from your router side. It will update on my excitel after some hours

2. Disable Tr069 (so that they can't push settings and router do not hamper/restart). This is also seen in your provide logs

3. Set DHCP lease time to -1 (when there is expiry time, your devices will renew IP and device disconnect depends on device config, default I found is 12hours(in seconds) for me, Every 12 hour, my device gets disconnect ).

After doing this, my session remains active to 5 to 6 days until I restart off the router.

Just another stuff to do if you can.
Last but not the least. Sometimes I found router memory/CPU is consuming 100% so i ssh into the router and some of the services which I found related to some monitoring. When I stop the services which is consuming high memory, it goes to 0% . Internet still not gone after stopping this services. It will again restart on router restart, so have to do it again
