My iPhone takes forever to switch from WiFi to 4G/5G

1. i get out of my house.
2. take the elevator (phone completely losses signals)
3. walks out of the building
4. my phone decides to connect to 2G instead of 4G or 5G

It stays on E no matter what app i open, i tried opening speedtest so maybe the phone would connect to 4g or 5g but nope. I let it be like that without doing anything and 10mins later its still on Edge.

This is a problem ive faced for almost a decade now and i just dont understand why no one at Apple faces this issue.

iPhone SE 1st gen ,iPhone 7, iPhone 11 and iPhone 15 Plus
All of them have this issue. and its so fricking annoying. If someone is paying a premium then they shouldnt be tasked to Refresh the network or something.
Android phones Midrange or High end both manage to refresh and connect to the strongest network available without the user making adjustments.

This is why i ended up creating a shortcut just for this exact issue a year ago.

Not sure whose fault it is (maybe both?), but I had the same problem with Vi & iPhone.
From what I understand. The phone searches for the best available network it can find when you are in the lift; it receives a 2G (albeit limited) signal and connects to that instead.
2G has no concept of signal switching (like 4G/5G) by default, and the network provider needs to explicitly configure it so that a phone reconnects to a better network if it's available; due to this, it remains connected to it indefinitely.
Also known as a B2 event, or fast return.

Yeah maybe this is worse with Vi than Jio and Airtel

Jio is better off here since LTE is the base

these days it connects to GPRS and E more than ever and its so annoying to enable Airplane mode to fix this.

Seems like a Vi problem. For me, both Airtel and Jio latch to 4G or 5G as soon as I step out of the lift. Both sim lose network as soon as I step in office lift.
Pixel devices do have an option to avoid 2G network connection.

it is the problem with Vi as it still operates on 2g , some place still 3g as well.
Airtel too
Switch to Jio as it has its base as 4G , so it will latch on 4g and 5g .

I wish i could switch to Jio but there is always that one incident where Jio 4G 5G stops working completely in busy areas in Mumbai

Like metro stations or Train station and I’m annoyed enough to never have it again as primary sim
