Talking about Intel's Lower end processor's performance over AMD....I have a 5 year old Acer laptop with Intel Celeron 1.86Ghz chip/1.5 Gb ram/120 Gg hard disk (but 965 mother board).. The videos are looking better than my latest purchase AMD Brazos C50/4Gb ram/320 Gb hard disk with so called in built Radeon HD 6250M graphic card... Long battery hours is the only saving grace for AMD laptop. Both running Win 7 ultimate.rs 5000 more than the AMD C50 laptop,I bought recently Lenovo-Intel B950 (sandybridge) Laptop. works much better. This will be my last AMD laptop.

I think AMD has not performed well in laptops , heating issues. It would be good if we stick to the topic plz as sam has to purchase the parts in 1-2 days.

well. let him get the taste of the offtopic medicine we distribute freely on the forum :D

Well if we discuss the merits of AMD viz a viz Intel, it may at least help other people who might stumble onto the thread looking a new config to buy.

This is the configuration I have worked on so far, need your suggestions.

I plan to get it on this Tuesday or Wednesday from Nehru Place.

Planning to get a Dedicated GFX in the next couple months.

My Usage would be;

Gaming, Browsing, Watching Movies, Photoshop, Word Processing.

are you tryin to buy a low end pc, or budget is your main concern.??????

if budget is not your main concernand you are ready to shell out some extra bucks then being a hardcore techie i would suggest you to and pull the price tag up or wait until ur ready. and its far more better to get room for " OverClocking".
Coz Hardware prices becoming a pain......u might want to get a hardware that u can extract more juice out of it later. So OverClockin your chips is a must nowadays and it not a taboo like old days.

/as for now....

1. Consider a SSD as ur primary boot device and 1tb as secondary.

2. Consider Asus/Gigabyte for boards....but asus is the best.

3. Consider a Unlocked intel Processor.

/also consider cutting down on Memory ram. can save some bucks here when u can get the same performance from an alternative.

/ does ur board really supports 12800mhz speed in dual or triple channels of memory?????? m doubtfull (clear me if m wrong) but that thing will lead to Hardware Bottlenecks.

I am still thinking what should I be doing, delaying the damage or get it right away.Couple of people have suggested to wait, I am wondering what exactly do they mean..Do they want me to get the newest technology processor or the old one but at better prices.Let the off topic medicine continue, I like it.

Do they want me to get the newest technology processor or the old one but at better prices.

Depends on what price the new technology is released at and whether it leads to a fall in the price of the old technology.

it would be wise to wait for 1 or 2 months, since Ivy processor are already launched overseas and will arrive to india in a couple of months. that would trigger a huge drop in price for the i3 and i5 processors
