After connecting to internet, LAN connection icon dsiaplays 100 Mbps. But online test by using speedtest.net reports download speed of 128 Kbps only. Why this difference?
Check connecting on USB port it will show 12 Mbps. (usb1.0)
100Mbps means divide by 8 12.5MB/sec should be the download speed.
Whereas your connection max 2Mbps will allow max 250KB/sec. ( ideal)
You are getting 128KB/sec. Try the TCPIP optimizer from SpeedGuide.net :: Your Guide to Broadband.
If you use a 256kbps connection also LAN will show 10/100Mbps..
err thats just the maximum speed that the lan card can handle. the net speed would be speed that you have applied for from your isp. what package have you taken?
When you are connected to internet via a modem / router and that is connected via a LAN cable the speed of 100mbps shown is from the LAN port in your pc to the router / modem . Your actual internet speed is what the internet service provider may set .
