Netlink Bridge Mode without port / mac reset

Now for the actual steps: On Netlink ONU, find out which ethernet port is connected to the router. In my case, ethernet 1 is connected to the router. Now, do the following... 1. Visit Netlink ONU's admin page (default username: admin, default password: stdONU101 - these may vary upon model and hardware/software version)
2. Visit Network => Internet
3. Choose "Bridge" for "Mode"
4. No need to change Vlan ID (the previous / existing vlan ID would be filled automatically)
5. Service Mode: "Internet"
6. Port Binding: Check "Port 1" and uncheck "Port 2" and uncheck "WLAN". Step 6 is important. If you connected Netlink ONU with the router via ethernet 2, then please check "Port 2" and uncheck the other two. Finally, click "Save/Apply" at the bottom of the page. Visit your router's dashboard and fire-up a new PPPoE client connection. It'd get connected in its first attempt. I hope that helps someone in the future.

Followed these steps with my Netlink HG323RGW and an Archer C7, and it worked fine without any issues.
A couple of queries though:
1. How do I access the modem settings interface? Can I still connect using a LAN cable and access it? Is there any method to access the interface via Wifi?
2. I do understand NAT or DHCP or other related terms. Is there something that I should intentionally switch on or off, either in the modem or in the router?

Just check if you have an option called "Secondary Connection" in "Internet" menu. If yes , give a static IP in Modem's subnet. Then you will be access modem interface.

I have done the same, everything works fine. But upload speeds are slower!!

@vu3knb Whats the purpose of secondary connection in TP-Link apart from accessing modem page ?
Can we dial second pppoe connection using secondary connection ?

This approach with making Netlink in Bridge mode and using a different Router like TP-Link to connect via PPPoE will work flawlessly. But there is a catch, if the ISP has enabled auto configuration feature(Net Link apparently provides this), on connecting the PON, all the changes you have done will auto reset, making the dumb NetLink again a Router.

There is no escape out of this other than to buy a XPON Terminal. I had bought TP Link XPON terminal (Rs 1800) 1-Port Gigabit XPON Terminal and then used that as Modem for my TP Link Router. Configuration was easy, had to just configure the VLAN ID in the terminal, then call up ISP to whitelist the mac address of the Terminal for WAN.

I think TP Link also has a Modem + Router that supports PON now AC1200 Wireless VoIP XPON Router
Havent tried this one yet, but i think it should work if you dont have a good Router and is stuck with dumb NetLink.
