The first stats are what I would go by, which are perfectly fine. Also, I see they've set your upload at 2mbps. If you aren't facing issues let the rates be, lest they reduce upload to 512k as is standard.
@x720 Thank you mate for the quick response, yes I was on 2699 8MBPS plan which they recently scrapped and reduced the upload to 512kbps.
However post changing it to vdsl plan of 2799 the upload is increased to 2 mbps as regular, only the download is a concerne as im still getting just 7 mbps. the speed was the same in 8mbps too.
so im guessing even after telling the mtnl for SOTL and they even agreed to it, i dont understnad why they have still put me on alcatel.
thatswhy was wondering if i should pursue them or buy a vdsl altogether to make sure i get the 10mbps what im paying for.
@saifbukhari
They know that New Alcatel is problematic server. They only change your port to SOTL if you complain bitterly. You have to give them in writing about your request.
You also need to change your DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. The default MTNL DNS are problematic.
Try calling on this number 022-24210387. It's some GM's PA who will help. Tell her you are not getting speed as per your plan and ask them to increase your profile speed.
Just now had a futile attempt at the mtnl office to meet the guy as he was unavailable. and that 12540 also started ringing...but no one to respond (lolz)
I will call your 022-24210387 tomorrow to request for profile speed + Visit the MTNL office again to switch me on the SOTL.
One interestting observation after almost 2 years of subscription of the 8mbps plan is that I finally am getting 8+ MBPS. ;-)
Below are the stats and speet test result
Before DNS Change: (not that its gonna increase the speed - i know)
So one doesn't need a VDSL router to enjoy higher speeds? I'm current on BB-1500 6 Mbps and wouldn't mind paying extra Rs 50 for VDSL Power 1549 for 2 Mbps upload speeds.
Current 512 Kbps upload speed is too low. Already getting 750 KBps download on 6 Mbps plan.
@d5aqoëp@x720 In that case I shall rest my case and not bother MTNL guys. Thanks guys
Right now connected via Wifi and below is the speed test result. No browsing Issue etc till now.
Again a massive thanks to you all along - much appreciated
@rohaan yeah if you followour thread and many other here on the forum, it is possible, if you are within 1km range and if required then get the mtnl guys to switch over to SOTL port.
Would be glad to share any details which I have accrued till date.
Good stuff
Here are my modem stats for 16 Mbps ADSL plan
The connection is stable with 23 hr sessions. The only time the session got interrupted at 13 hrs was due to building maintenance (power was turned off). Tested for more than 1 month now and my modem TP-Link TD8816 V8 is solid.
