The new rules will come into effect from December 16.

The MNP request under the present rule will be processed till December 9 and the service will not be available between December 10 and December 15 as entities involved in the process will be migrating their systems to implement new rules.

Besides this, other major changes have been incorporated such as the validity of the Unique Porting Code or UPC has been brought down to four days instead of a fortnight prescribed earlier, for all circles except Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and North East, where the validity of the said code remains unchanged to 30 days, it said.

4 days validity of the porting code? Wtf

If I understood correctly, the porting code need not be valid for the entire duration of the port-out process, as long as you or your operator initiates the port-out process within the validity period you are good.

So a short validity is actually good, prevents mis-use to some extend perhaps? And you could always generate a new UPC immediately after the previous one expires so it doesn't really affect a bone fide port out request IMHO.

One MNP is work in progress (from Vodafone prepaid to Jio prepaid) will happen by tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. Another should start today.🤞🏻

Vodafone prepaid to AIrtel prepaid done by a friend in January - no issues as such.
