Hi Everyone,

As you everyone know, Airtel announced a New Wi-Fi 6 Router with their 1 Gbps Plan all over India. So we are having the same ONT here today which is a kind of ZyXEL & Sercomm Mixture Router. The Model Number is AOT-5221ZY with Looks of Sercomm Router & same model reference number which was AOT4221SR so now I think SR stands for Sercomm & AOT-5221ZY is Zyxel ONT.

So here are the images.

This Router is by Zyxel & runs at Wi-Fi 6 with 160 Mhz, but the saddest part of all things is that ONT is not stable at all just like previous Zyxel Models. This ONT lags at all points. In the speed tests of 1 Gbps connection, my laptop could get 709 Mbps at last & Mobile at 580 Mbps but my ZTE ONT gives better results than this Zyxel ONT. Zyxel on the other hand like every time locked the ONT which is very bad considering Airtel being a Good Brand doesn't even care about their ONT which is very disappointing. Either they should continue ZTE, Nokia & Huawei back as they never had these hiccups & problems which is not the case with Zyxel, Sercomm, Dragonpath, Dasan, etc.

So what do you guys think about this? I am attaching Speed Tests and Wi-Fi reports.

So the LAN gives Decent but not thorough output and the output always stutters itself & I tried it on 4 Devices, and the Same problems like low bandwidth & old problems of ZyXEL are still coming with this so it is not worth upgrading if you have ZTE, and Nokia & Huawei.

So I opened the Router too, let's have a look inside.

@mgdelhi Thanks for your Question. I have myself tried out Dragonpath & would not recommend this over Dragonpath. Dragonpath is somehow better than any ZyXEL Model out there in Airtel so I don't want to disturb your already disturbed internet. I would suggest to get a Huawei, Nokia or ZTE Model. My preference was Nokia now it's ZTE but I sacrificed my Nokia for this but won't tell you to sacrifice your Dragonpath ont towards this wifi 6 ont until it gets unlocked and modded by devs. Regards

@Ilovetech Thanks for this bro.

I also seen your previous comment via Email so want to tell you in this router your Username would be admin & your admin password will be your GPON Serial Number which is visible in your Airtel app & on the back of your ONT. Please do a detailed view how is your router performance for me this router is not good.

@mgdelhi for your convenience bro you can get a TP-Link G7 Xpon and then connect any router with it, it would give you your router top notch performance.

Similarly ZTE, Huawei ONT even Nokia ONT are being sold via sellers on Indiamart. I myself bought a ZTE ONT via Indiamart Seller & they do provide the unlocked one so you can just disable the TR069 & have the SN changed so that your OLT can recognise the ZTE & you can have uninterrupted internet supply or you can look at TP Link XC200v G3v too as you can change the SN anytime you want.

Hope this Helps
Regards

Hii @DakshK69
Just saw your review and the teardown is awesome.
You're from Jaipur as well?
Maybe you can't share it publicly but which area are you from?

Because I too wanna try airtel but don't know whether LCO serves my area or directly airtel (latter seems the case).

Also, can you provide me some insights regarding stability, 1Gbps speed rests to other servers and overall service in our city?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @unnecessary yes bro I am from Jaipur too & yeah can't tell these details here you can ping me at telegram @DakshK1.

Here in my area, Airtel serves everyone no LCO present here in my case. And as I think you don't have Airtel as of now well if you are thinking to get Airtel first have the talk with the installation guys that which ONT they are gonna be installing like for example you seen this teardown router, it comes with Wifi 6 as advantage but if you have more than 5-6 devices using internet simultaneously then this router is not recommended to anyone here.

Moreover actually 1Gbps is not that stable, I would send you the tests so in Telegram you can tell me what tests I need to perform.

Thank You
