I have a broadband connection from MTNL Delhi on which I have been facing problems from time to time as other members using an MTNL connection also have reported. But this time it has broken all records for me. It has been 19 days since I could use my broadband connection on my PC at my home as there has been no phone or broadband connection for the last nineteen days.
Seeing the posts on this forum, which I always have found helpful, I had written emails to various officers e.g., [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] but to no avail. Everytime I book a complaint for phone or broadband online or over my mobile phone, the complaints mysteriously disappear (for which I doubt the lineman who is a wretched guy) without my problem being solved at all. I also called up many important persons in the MTNL telephone exchange from where my phone and broadband connection is controlled from AM to the Officer in charge of broadband but to no avail.
Once after emailing to the Broadband GM I got a "cc" of a reply which forwarded my complaint to the concerned AM at the exchange to take appropriate action. The next day I got a call from the same office enquiring about the location of my phone connection and also whether I was facing the problems which I mentioned above.
After that when I checked the Complaint Status on the Fault reporting Website, it showed "CBD BOOKED" pending at CBD. Does anyone on this forum know what this means? Also when I called up the Broadband in-charge at the Exchange he said, "Kaam Chal raha hai. Do ek din mein theek ho jayga".
However, a few days later this complaint also disappeared and the showed NO COMPLAINT PENDING to my frustration. So, I again booked a new complaint and also wrote another email to , again without any response.
So, someone please tell me what to do in my situation to get my Broadband working? Any suggestion towards this will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

a friend of mine here at Mumbai had also told me that whenever he used to register a complaint, it used to get dissolved within a day or two. finally, he wrote to the DGM here a few days back regarding a nagging issue, and it got resolved within a day thereafter!

Thank you for the reply. But I have been writing to the Officers even at the level of GM but still to no avail.

If after having complained to so many people, they still haven't fixed it. Dump mtnl. Though, have you tried going to the exchange/ sanchaar haat?

I could have done that long time ago. But I do not have other options. Airtel Broadband still does not cover my area though they are providing broadband services in nearby areas. Also their tariff is way higher compared to MTNL - the only thing for which I have stuck to MTNL.
No, I have not gone to the exchange/Sanchaar Haat yet this time even though I had visited there 5 or 6 months back for a similar issue? I also have talked on phone with the same officer-in-charge of Broadband whom I had met at the exchange (on the contact number which he had provied that time) but this time without any help. What more do I need to do there at the Sanchaar Haat/Exchange? Please guide. Thanks.

Tell them you want a rebate as you dont have a connection for 'X' no. of days that should get their attention.
Yes, that seems to be a good idea. Though they would never do that, but its worth trying. Btw I could not reply to the posts here as I had to part with the MTS Dongle which I had borrowed and I did not have any Internet. But for the past couple of minutes I checked and found the internet from MTNL to be working. But again I wonder for how long!

Two days ago the phone connection was restored. But I was not sure for how long. Yesterday, there was still cross talk on the phone line. But the broadband seems to be working even with high line Attenuation of 25.0db Downstream and 12.5db Upstream. Also got a call yesterday from the Broadband GM office asking whether my phone connection has been restored, on which I told them that yes it was working at that time. Also got an email from them confirming that.
So, now I am using broadband even though I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Also, I have activated my Airtel GPRS on my mobile as a backup in situations like this which comes for Rs 199 for 2GB with speeds of 60-70kbps which gets reduced to 40-50 kbps approximately. But I called the Airtel CC to help me get that connection working on my PC. But the agents did not have enough time to guide me through that and told me I would get a call back. But still there is no call back.
Nevertheless, thank you all for the suggestions.

nice! congrats! the line-attenuation figure is decent, if not good, but i don't think that it's bad. my connection is surviving on a figure of 54 db US! also, sometimes registering a complaint for the phone does the trick to solve BB issue too (ie, if the line is also changed).
