Nokia G-140W-F bridge mode?

Hey @rajil.s
I have a query which might sound stupid as i am a noob in all this stuff, please bear with me.
I have both the Nokia and Huawei ONT devices which are provided by Airtel, the one currently in use is the Huawei one. The wireless internet speed is pretty good in the room in which the router sits, however as i move to another room which is a little further, the speed drops. I was wondering if i can use the Nokia ONT device as a range extender to get similar speeds in the other room as well? Is this possible or do i have to get a new router altogether?

They gave me the Nokia G-2425G-A router with external antennas. It's locked down and can't be tweaked from the user side, have raised a ticket and asked support to let me use it as a bridge.

So they haven't done anything from their side till now. I just went ahead and edited the router html and removed the <fieldset> disabled attribute and was able to change the settings on the WAN page successfully. Now only VOIP is provisioned on the Nokia router and I'm able to PPPoe from my router. The changes seem persistent on reboot, not sure if they'll force the settings from the backend again.

does not work anymore

Hello all,

I have an Orbi RBK50 as well as an Archer A9 router as backup. Going by what @tellanand has mentioned it seems like Orbi does not support a tagged VLAN, while the TP-Link Archer A9 does. Screenshots below:

Let me know if bridging would be possible on any of them?

I would like to fully assured before I tinker with any of my devices. I have had bad experiences with Netgear support once when I messed up a Tomato firmware flashing.

@ten24bytes I'm not familiar with the Orbi interfaces but a cursory search shows that it does support VLAN tagging on the WAN port. If you configure the VLAN ID as 100 and leave the priority as 0, you should be able to connect using PPPoE from the router.

Trial and error my friend. You're merely changing the settings here, not flashing brand new firmware. Backup the configs before changing the settings, if it doesn't work - restore.

So as I understand double NAT is not good for online gaming, VPN connection etc but that can be solved with port forwarding ?
and other stuffs like browsing streaming etc will not be impacted if dual NAT is left as is ....

what other issues can I except if I just connect my Asus AX88U router in router mode and not bridge mode to Nokia ?

I am not going to connect any device to Nokia anyways and would disable its wifi also ....

and can someone help me how to disable Nokia wifi ?

Start a new thread for new information/question!
Can't we use Nokia fiber router with private operators?? Is there any software or firewall which blocks other service provider using the Nokia ONUA

Ok guys, so here's an update. I raised a request with Airtel for setting my Nokia GPON in bridge mode. Here is what happened:
  1. I received a call from their networking engineer to understand my requirement.
  2. He told that we need to enable bridge mode for this router from the backend, which will take 1-2 hours.
  3. Anyway, the next day they came to my house for configuring the router.
  4. All they did was change the Port 4 in LAN settings to "Bridge Mode". Didn't change anything in the TR069 WAN connection (still in PPPoE).
  5. Then I configured my router to PPPoE mode and put in my username/password. The connection was made successfully, but I was highly doubtful that it would be a double NAT.
  6. To my surprise, on checking the "tracert" and WAN status in my router, both were showing external IP address, which confirms that I am directly connected via my router. Screenshots below.
  7. I confirmed again with their engineer about this situation and whether they have indeed changed anything in the backend to support this. To which he replied, that you can try deleting the TR069 connection from WAN and check, but it will again come again as a config in 15-30 minutes from the server.
  8. I actually deleted the TR069 connection and the internet was indeed working. I am yet to receive the default configuration from the Airtel servers even after 30 mins.
I would request you guys to try raising a request at your end regarding this and see whether this works for you guys.
