Because they scare of losing revenue generated from Apple iPhone in terms of royalty.

lol. not really. Nokia actually has enough patents to beat the shit out of apple. and apple is already reportedly paying a very substantial amount to nokia for these patents. this is the reason why they have not sued each other in courts for anything. microsoft, nokia and apple have a broad patent sharing agreement.

if nokia had gone for android, it would have helped both nokia and android ecosystem because of the patents they have. sadly, elop has already signed up many deals with microsoft and even if nokia dump him today and switches to android... they cannot get out of these agreements.

if i remember correctly, microsoft and nokia have collaborated together and formed a third party company that deals in licensing patents owned by both of them. and this is why so many android manufacturers have signed a patent agreement with microsoft (samsung, htc and almost everyone else pay microsoft on every android device already).

^^^ What has really bugged me(and maybe many others) about this whole situation is that it seems Nokia is exclusive to MS(Windows Phone) but MS is not exclusive to Nokia... What benefit did Nokia get from this exclusive deal that HTC or Samsung already dont enjoy with the WP7 platform while not being exclusive...

Nokia got a billion dollars from Microsoft through various channels in the name of support and marketing coordination.the problem however is that nokia has lost more than a couple of billion dollars in market cap. so it has been a loss-loss deal for them.also i don't think nokia is exclusive to windows phone. they still sell symbian devices. they sold n9 with meego. the problem of course is elop which still seems to have a loyalty to his old company which has dug a deep hole for nokia.

I guess price on L900 would be far higher than Rs 28K, I think it would be 30K+.

L610 could be Rs 11~15K. I would never pay more than 11K anyways considering its hardware limitations.

Compare cellphones - gdgt

900 seems to have a larger display (but same resolution) and a front camera. rest of the specifications looks to be well same. i do not see how they can charge a premium on this model. :D

In a way both are right, by habit, Nokia would release it at 30K+ to grab any initial enthusiasts , then would price it at a lesser rate soon after.

Told you so :|

Now I guess its late for Nokia 900. Perhaps we could have 920 or 820 at same rate (or 5-6K higher).

920 is a major update over 900. based on the pricing of 900, it would cost more around 40K. unless of course they would drop 900 to around 25K and price 920 at 32K. in any case, 900 is a very bad device to go for today at the prices it is on sale for.
