MTNL tri-band
Hi. I use MTNL triband 749NUL with the UT300R2U ADSL Modem. I have one desktop connected through the USB port and a laptop connected through ethernet. Both run win-XPP. The modem is configured to use PPPoE. I use Zonealarm and AVG. Since some days I have been unable to connect from the laptop to YIM/VOIP (iconnecthere) using the standalone clients. The YIM refuses to sign in, while the pc2phone dialer gives a dialer configuration error. I can however sign into the standalone Gchat client. I can use the browser (FF) without any problem, and the browser based YIM works fine. If I connect to my office VPN, I can then connect to YIM/VOIP. The other desktop pc can however connect without problem, through USB or the ethernet port. I have reinstalled the clients, and reset the modem but there is no effect. Anyway, since the VPN route works, the problem has to be somewhere else. How do I resolve this?

if it was working earlier, and u have not changed anythin and also u r pretty sure that u're system is not infected or bugged.... then jus relax and wait till MTNL fixes the problem for u... it might be a local exchange prob....well for me, i don use VOIP but Yahoo is workin pretty fine (i use pidgin)

Hi. I tried using Pidgin. It works. But it is not as full featured as the YIM client (cam/voice/auto-invisible etc). So I prefer the YIM.I checked my laptop and desktop with spybot and rootkit revealer. Couldn't find anything. The puzzling thing is that one comp can connect using the ethernet , while the other cannot (unless tunneled through another network). Is the desktop already infected and tunneling out through some network?

@essbebeGot a question for u buddy, I have this MTNL connection..i wanna share the connection between a laptop and a dekstop..laptop on Vista and Desktop on XP sp2..well, i will b using WiFi in laptop..will this work out if yes then how, if it works then i need to apply for the wifi router..

Yes, both desktop and laptop have win XPP-SP2, patched. The laptop is OEM. while the desktop OS is sourced from the 'assembler'. What is the best way to monitor outbound traffic from the desktop?

Regardless of whatever OS you have on the Laptop. WiFi would work.
