@Chip yeah 😬
Also as you said the oil seperation thing. Is this the case with thermal grizzly? Or only with few batches of MX5? How common is this with other brands and their conductants?

@Aashish.007 yeah, it's just a small performance difference. Only thing is single threaded performance is better on i9 but yeah for laptop i7 & i9 won't be making much of a difference except some specific workloads. Same goes with GPU.

A laptop 3070ti vs laptop 3080ti isn't showing much of a difference. But as I'm getting i9 for the price of i7 it's just more sweet 😁. It's not worth it to spend 60-70k more just for the 3080ti model.

@havoc This was for some batches of MX5. But mind you the performance is still good enough. I even tried out it. :) But if you ever get a busted product just return for a replacement. With MX5/4 always scan the QR code to check for genuineness. There are many fakes around.

@WieldyBinkie The key to maintaining product consistency is to store the syringe with the nozzle down and of course firmly capped in a cool dry place. I have read of people who has used MX4 after >5 years with no ill effect. In fact I used AS5 after over a decade. :D

@Aashish.007 - separation of oil which is a "carrier" is not an issue. The only thing it does is to make the paste easier to squeeze from the syringe and spread over the CPU heat spreader. Other wise the paste is sticky gunk and very difficult to use. I use the single line method with AS5 and the blob method with other TIMs. The heat sink does all the hard work of spreading the TIM evenly.
