No it is a self bought router. LCO was providing some Tenda router at that time and I was using Linksys WRT54G at that time, so declined his offer.

WRT54G went out of service after 10+ years with me. So I bought this on someone's recommendation.

100mbps router would limit speeds of your onu even if it is capable of 100+mbps.

and a gigabit router would not be useful here coz your onu is not giving 100+mbps speeds.

is your pc port even gigabit? i always seem to miss this.

I will check the direct ONU speeds on multiple pc's and confirm this in a day or two.

But if the ONU is same as shown in the thread already, and someone commented that it is working at 300+ for them. Shouldn't it be the same speeds in my case?

I feel the LCO might be trying to make me buy the 2000 ONU+router(whatever). I'll keep this thought parked until I confirm all the hardware issues.

Thanks for all your help so far guys.

Wireless doesn't have any link with the ethernet port speed of the device.

Ethernet connection property show show the speed of the connection.

if this shows 100mbps, you are not going to get 200mbps on this pc. (sometimes this could also be because of ethernet cable quality).

based on your posts, it seems that you use a lot of old hardware. it's best to stay on 100mbps if you do not wish to upgrade everything.

that onu is good enough for 200Mbps. Me along with other members here are using that dumb onu and get full 300Mbps speed. your LCO saying that its the limitation of that onu is bullshit so dont listen to them.
there are a couple of things that you can check :

1. make sure that the device that you are using has gigabit ethernet card.
2. make sure negotiation speed is set to 1gbps full duplex in your windows.
3. make pppoe connection in windows and directly connect your computer to onu
4. check your plan on myexcitel portal. it should say 200Mbps

your router also needs to have gigabit ethernet port and negotiation speed on router should be 1gig as well.

Also need to check the ethernet cable is Cat5e or better... it should be printed on the cable itself.

So, I checked it with direct ONU connection with a laptop supporting gigabit ethernet card.
The test results show UL and DL speeds of ~200Mbps with 2ms ping. I have a 200Mbps connection.

Conclusion:
  1. Wifi router (TP-Link AC750) does not support gigabit
  2. My LCO does not have a clue if their ONU works.
Please suggest:
  1. I want to use a fiber internet+TV in very near future. Excitel does not offer it at the moment. Options I have are Jio or Airtel. Can I return this box and ask for a refund? I already have paid for a 3+1 month plan can it be partially refunded?
  2. If I plan to stay with current Excitel fiber which wifi router should i go for?
    1. Requirements: strong signal strength
    2. Technology that is durable for longer time
    3. Easy to configure and troubleshoot by local technician or LCO, if needed. (you can sense how good they are by now)
    4. Not extremely expensive.
I appreciate all your help till now.

Regards
