Note 3 N900A signal problem

Dear all
I have recently bought Samsung N900A (basically 9005 Samsung AT&T) from ebay from USA which is factory unlocked. The phone was delivered to me last week. I am located in Jalandhar (Punjab) and am using Airtel. The problem is that the signal strength is extremely poor. The same SIM was being used by me in Samsung Guru Dual Sim and there was just no problem. I am actually worried. I showed the phone to Samsung service centre here and they opened and found nothing wrong with antenna wire. But there is still no improvement in signal strength.
Some one suggested that I move to Vodaphone since they are on 1800/1900 band and Airtel is on 900 band. Will that help?
Any suggestions or similar experience will help.

900MHz will always give you better signal to put it simply.

So what do I do? Are there any patch ant available which i can put in phone and boost signal strength. Why am I getting poor signal in the same place where I was getting good signal in the simple phone?

And yes I would like to mention that this model supports LTE also.
