Hi All... I'm a beginner to networking. Plz guide me with my problem. Gt a new connection 2 weeks back..started working properly, but suddenly and very frequently. i.e) ADSL light is on..but the net connection will not be available. One of my frend advised me to do this setting in TCP/IP properties.IP Address : 192.168.1.2Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0Default gateway: 192.168.1.1and DNS servers - I got it from here as 208.67.222.222218.248.240.208 Still the problem persist..I could guess that since ADSL switch is on..I have the connnection but with the internal settings/browser settings i'm not able to connect. I sometimes overcome this problem by changing the ip to 1.117 or 1.119 or something like that, restart the system...it works sometime but not always.. this is my ip setting Primary DNS suffix : < >Mode type: hybridIP routing enabled: NoWins proxy enabled:No Ethernet LAN SettingsDHCP Enabled: NoIP Address : 192.1681.1.2Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0Default gateway: 192.1681.1.1DNS SERVERS : 208.67.222.222218.248.240.208 My modem type is UT300R2U Plz help..any settings change required or is it a problem with BSNL connection. Essbebe or anyone..plz help with ur advise or direct me to any of old threads which has this basic settings stuff.. Thanks a lot!!-Duggu.

Essbebe...Thanks for that..I wll let u know after I try out. Just curious, Does this problem occuring coz i'm in Class C network(192.*)..or was it just coz DHCP was not turned on and the range wasnt' mentioned?? -Thanks Duggu.

Confirm you are connected to Internet normally without any problem now.Make a copy of all entries in the modem in a notebook , or save settings in Harddisk ( see the modem pages). or record screen shots. We can try all experiments/research later.

Essbebe, Now my net is not working anymore... Should me by mistake...I'm just confused with PC settings and Modem settings(in 192.168.1.1)... My default modem settings has DHCP enabled with the IP range 1.1 to 1.254..DNS is automatic. My PC settings hasIP- 192.168.1.2Gateway - 192.168.1.1DNS - mentioned as in forum Y'day only I chkd my modem settings in 192.168.1.1, and it had default configuration with what we expected. There was a diagonastic section, in that it showed myISP Authentication - FailedIP Validation - FailedADSL connection - passedetc. like that.. What could be the problem?? any idea? I did not change anything with modem settings (in 192.168.1.1) How my PC configuration should align with modem settings?

1.You have not followed my suggestion to make a copy of all settings, when your internet was working.2.You have entered the ID/password wrongly. in modem try without @bsnl.in and check small/capital letters for password.3. In computer TCP/IP properties check assign IP addresss automatically.4. DNS Open dns 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220

Hi Essbebe, Well, I did not play with any of settings inside modem.... My connection type is pppoe, so I don't enter any id-password while connecting.. it connects automatically from modem..

Authentication failure indicates only wrong ID and Password.Anyway try in computer.Check Diagnostics page again in modem. Start/ run type cmd type ipconfig/allany change/s ?

Do I need to assign the DNS inside modem settings(i,e in 192.168.1.1)..I have given it in PC settings...I have never connected net using id and password..I believe it is the same id and password which i use for 192.168.1.1.. If it is the same, Can i mannually set the connection again with this..

.enter and try. see diagnostics page. wait at least two minutes for modem save/reboot.

Check that ADSL line is properly connected, CPE is powered on and ADSL link LED is glowing in stable condition.
Check that LAN cable is properly connected to PC and LAN link LED is glowing in stable condition.
If LAN LED is not stable then check that LAN cable is connected properly or replace the cable and check.
In case the LAN cable is connected to LAN switch or HUB, you have to use a cross cable.
If the LAN LED is still not glowing, then veify that LAN card is properly installed with suitable driver or get the help of your computer service person for doing so.
If all the physical installation is correct but still you are not able to browse.
Then check that-
