Currently I am using Deco X20 as main router in bridge mode connected to Airtel ONT. I don't have LAN ports left as I have also connect my home server to Deco X20 main unit lan port. Another issue I get with Deco X20 in router mode is, if internet is down I cannot access home server on LAN port via WiFi since Deco X20 has auto sensing WAN/LAN ports.
I am thinking to make my home server my own router and use Deco in AP mode. I wanted to confirm few things to ensure I will be able to achieve what I am thinking:-
1. I have a Airtel ONT which has LAN port 4 in bridge mode
2. I will connect Home Server via LAN to Airtel ONT LAN port 4
3. Install opnsense in Proxmox assign 192.168.1.1
4. Configure WAN in opnsense with PPPoE credentials of Airtel
5. Once PPPoE is successful connect Deco X20 in AP mode to another LAN port on Home server
Let me know if what I am thinking is correct and I should be able to achieve it. Will use remaining LAN ports on Home server to connect other devices via LAN.
