Optimum Rx power

I don't think Rx or Tx power has anything to do with "pings". Sounds like a straight up bluff. Most FTTH connections I have used had power in the range of -18 to -25 dBm and ping has nothing to do with it. It totally depends on the ISP's routing/peering and geographic location.

I did ask one of the Tata play technician about adjusting Rx power to -20 dBm from -23 dBm and he simply denied saying that it needs to be adjusted from the backend/OLT. Unless the power is less than -26dBm there's nothing wrong with the connection and they get automatic alerts when the power is less than a specified figure at customer end.
