Sandra Bullock is Jane Bodine, a political consultant who is called upon by her firm to go to South America and manage the presidential campaign of politician Pedro Gallo. Up to that point her client wasn’t exactly winning the hearts of the people and to make matters worse the other candidate, Victor Rivera, also has an American political consultant running his campaign. The American is Pat Candy, played by Billy Bob Thronton, and he is pretty much her arch nemesis.
