SBI partners with PayPal to enable debit card payments online - timesofindia-economictimes

Customers of State Bank of India (SBI) can now use their debit cards on PayPal for buying products from overseas websites. The country's largest bank announced a partnership with digital payments firm, PayPal, on Thursday, enabling this.

The partnership will also allow SBI's Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) customers to use PayPal's secure payment solutions. "We would also collaborate on providing innovative financial solutions to merchants who are using PayPal services," SBI said.

HDFC debit card users, you've waited too long for this to happen!

I've been using HDFC Debit Card to make payments via PayPal for over a year now.
that's strange, I used to have an account with them, but their debit cards would always get declined on PayPal due to TFA. One way to get around this was to use their NetSafe Virtual Cards but it wasn't always reliable and wouldn't work on sites like Play Store where they charge twice for a single transaction (one for auth, the other for the actual product) and PayPal doesn't like virtual cards because if there's a payment dispute or if your account gets flagged for some reason, they require a scanned image of the card as well as a bank statement with the transaction details on it which is impossible to get

NetSafe feature went offline for a few months at some point. That's when they started allowing international payments via original debit cards.
