Pc gets hanged when connection to bsnl broad band is done?

HI, Recently got a broadband connection from BSNL, modem is TYPE 2 modem. BSNL personnel configured it at home and intimated via phone that broadband has been activated and can be used. When user name and password is entered it shows connected status of LOCAL AREA NETWORK, but when trying to open any internet page, PC gets hanged up, hence PC was restarted, but same problem occured every time, also tried that when usrname and password is entered and connected status comes, PC gets hanged with in 1 min without carrying out any operation in PC.What is the problem?, kindly help me out.

drivers related to your NIC card may be faulty. try to update the NIC driver.

Mention modem/model/make/number.
Check the "STICKY" post for WA3002-g4 in this forum
for settings of modem.
