Phone Dead but Internet Working

Ok most of the time its just the opposite case but today my internet connection is working fine but my phone is dead from the morning.Has anyone faced the similar problem?How come is this happening?

i faced the same problem few days back... but the internet was choppy too... having placed a complaint, the dial tone came back automatically...

ya this happens a lot to me.... my net works even if one of the two wires is broken...(i.e. if only single wire is connected from the pair of line) although phone is dead if single wire is connected, and speed is also reduced at that time. but if wire is not broken and phone is dead then the net works better i.e. less disconnections and high speeds (not more than 2mbps of course)....
