PhonePe starts charging processing fees on phone recharges above Rs 50

PhonePe said that these charges are being levied on an experimental basis in the range of Re 1 to Rs 2. Other transactions through UPI and money transfers on the platform are free, a company spokesperson said.

They charge while loading from credit card which PhonePe does not (I think?). So yeah.

reloading using credit card has a logic behind it at least. charging a convenience fee for mobile recharges is stupid. it is very likely that they already get a commission from telecom operators. because your local shops also recharge at the same rate and they are unlikely to be doing it for free.

The commission is around 4% for retailers. But must be more for entities like PhonePe

No use of phone pe then there are several other apps which even gove cashback then who will use PhonePe, its like digging own grave

I think there are many parties that have been charging a convenience fee for a long time like oxigen wallet, niki.ai etc, so there is that.
