Guess I'm not the only one who finds it ugly.

ah ok. it is a major issue on nexus 5. one of the biggest annoyance since i got the phone. i am basically used to taking photos knowing that the photos would be wider than what i am seeing on the screen so i take that into consideration. this update was much awaited for me.

Dunno. I am fine with it. The older controls were painful to use. Plus I do not understand how Google can show you an accurate preview without doing anything like this.

Maybe you are right. It's the viewfinder and final pic thing that forced them to do this.
