I have JBL 5.1 home theater system/ amplifier is Harman Kardan AVR 133.
Tata Sky engineer provided me standard wire white/red/yellow. I plugged this wire from setbox WRY to JBL Amp WRY on Video 3 setting. but i am not getting a 5.1 effect sound. i tried all options provided on JBL amp/ Dolby movie/ Dolby Music/Dolby emulation /stereo 2.1 etc. but no 5.1 sound
Can anyone help me where i am making mistake...? I'll be grateful to your help

Thanks

Connect a single RCA cable from the S/PDIF connector on the HD Set top box , to the Optical (COaxial) input on the AV receiver...

STB --> http://img98.imageshack.us/f/tv113.jpg/

You can use the "YELLOW" cable from your WRY in the Orange connector ,
to the SPDIF connector on the Receiver.

This will help compare signals / sound quality between the regular 2 channel / Digital signal as well!

I really appreciate your effort for making a tutorial. I did as you suggested, From my RCA cable yellow one i fit it on my HD setbox S/PDIF ...but when i try to plug another point of wire into my receiver's COaxial socket that does not fits there ! do i need to buy another single wire which can be fit in both sockets? or just a Coaxial wire?

Check out the AVR 155 --> http://www.myharman.net/images/products/rear_large/AVR130.jpg

You see the Orange DIGITAL-input --> Coaxial - in connectors? You need to find the same on your AV receiver.
The specs listed on the JBL website say that this receiver has 2x Coaxial inputs, and 1x optical input.

Do connect to the Co-axial input. It might be orange - or - black .

Can you post a picture of the back panel of your receiver?

Btw, 1 thing i would point out is - If theres a "Setup" section in the STB's menu, then u should check it out.Coz somewhere in that Setup menu, u can change the audio settings from Stereo speakers, to 5.1 channel/7.1 channel.....I am on D2h, and i had to do that. Dont know the specific menus/options of TS, so i cant provide further assistance......i can just give this idea.

Its a hardware specific issue ...Tata Sky box is dumb in this respect !!I have HDMI wire connected from STB to Home Theater ...still it will not carry 5.1 under any possible permutation combination.Solution is same as posted in another thread - get a coaxial cable and join STB and HT with it ...:)

Ok.....i wudnt have known that. Still, if theres a way around, then its well & good. Lets see what OP updates now....

Yes i found the 2 Coaxial socket in my JBL receiver, but when i try to plug wire in that socket it seems to be lose, i guess i need to buy Original Coaxial wire" for this method". Tata Sky should have provided a Optical output for HT. I will arrange the photo of that wire and back panel photo of my receiver . Thanks buddy
