i m planning to take airtel broadband.....i have 1 desktop nd 1 laptop in my home....so if i take the home 999combo plan and take wifi...,will i be able to connect both the desktop nd laptop at one time, if i take the WI-FI?????nd what will be the difference between wi=fi nd router????lookin 4 a positive response........

Yes you'll be able to use it both on laptop and desktop... Get router which has more than one ethernet port (RJ45).

DIff b/w router and wifi...If you get only router, you'd be able to connect the system by LAN cable and if wifi router then you can use it wirelessly. Although for latter you need to have WiFi card in your desktop.

actually i dont hav any router..... airtel is providin free router!!!.....so will their router do the trick????....nd using the router can i use bothe desktop nd laptop at the sametime or only 1 of dem can be used at a time????

@ Ganguly:if u use the modem given by Airtel then u can use one at a time... if u get an additional Wifi router which will cost u around 1600 [Netgear] u can use both ur Desktop as well as ur Laptop [wirelessly]

i HAVE TOLD u this before itself If you get a router that has multiple RJ45 jack you can use as many computers SIMULTANEOUSLY as many jacks you have. Like in my case I have got 400BXi and it has 4 Rj45. I can use 4 systems simultaneously via WIRED connection. :thumbsup:

And I got this router without paying anything extra... just 500INR advance like any other airtel connection...

I have bought my own router (Linksys wrt 54g wireless) and connected it via ethernet to my desktop, and my laptop uses the wireless feature. It's pretty easy to setup, and I get a good signal throughout my house. It cost me around Rs2400, but it's a good investment.
