and there are limited number of pokemon in an area and the ones captured are not available to others? i guess i should read one of the thousand guides that are now available online because i still have no freaking clue what the point of the game is.
I think it depends on the rarity of the pokemon because I could see some rarer pokemons and my friend couldn't.
But for common pokemon we both saw them and could capture them.
Basically in pokemon you have to go out and capture them so this game does that. Earlier pokemon games were like normal games you could roam around in their world to get pokemon.
So this one uses AR and kinda gives you a "feel" of being a real pokemon trainer as you have to walk to get them and the type of pokemon depends on the location, like if you're near a lake you get water pokemon and at night you get different pokemon.
Although I feel they have simplified the game as earlier you had to fight with your existing pokemon to catch them and now it all depends on how well you throw the pokeball.

That would be a security risk as the game is targeted towards kids too. Not to mention that some places are already reporting unwanted activity such as people getting robbed and stuff.
The game itself has biomes where you can find different types of pokemon. Biomes and player level play a factor in Pokemon rarity. The game is still pretty simple, anyone remember what Ingress was like when it first came out?
