Their signals are decent compared to other 3G networks too (barring Airtel which is the only competition I suppose). So, they can be kept as a backup to broadband. If their calls work fine (I hardly make a few calls a month), I might use them for the calls and night unlimited (2-5 am is a very odd time though). Rest I do not see much use of it.
Hope they launch Jio FTTH pan-India soon. That is what I am mainly interested in. If that is launched soon, I will use Jio and BSNL broadband for backup of one another as main connections and the Jio 4G as the third backup.
I like this idea of backup. Ever since I took up Jio, I use the BSNL (which rarely works) as a backup. So, it results in overall workable internet connection almost all the time throughout the day. If one is terrible, I shift to another and vice versa. Two unlimited connections with one being backup of the other might be a very good idea in the long run for hassle free connectivity. I would need to test out the BSNL 3G signals at my place. If the speeds and signals are good, I might also take their 3G unlimited for 1099 as a backup. That sounds cool if the signals are good and do not drop. A stable (and real world unlike Jio 4G) 2-4 Mbps connection is good enough for me for regular work. I do not see the use of 40 Mbps (unlimited is nearly impossible in real world in such connections) except for downloading torrents or other huge files. Regular work needs 2-4 Mbps real world speed (not speed test results where I get 16 Mbps speed in speedtest.net and it takes 3 minutes to open speedtest.net completely in Jio 4G). And a very high speed also consumes a lot of data as many websites has started autoplay videos now (including TOI for example). So, I need a consistent and real-world usable broadband connection. Hope Jio works on their FTTH and their network soon.
