Port from Jio to Airtel

I am an NRI, who currently has 4 Jio Postpaid ₹299 numbers in his family. My monthly bill is close to ₹360 per number including taxes. I don’t pay anything extra for roaming because I only receive incoming OTP and don’t answer calls or send messages. I will go to India soon and was considering porting to Airtel. Some questions
1. Does Airtel allow International Roaming without roaming plans?
2. I will visit my parents in Kolkata, can I use their address proof to port my numbers? My address proof is of Gurgaon, but I am not going there.
3. Can I port 4 numbers in 1 day?

For 1 and 3, technically yes. But, Airtel is known to tweak their rules at any time. Also, the roaming partners may change their rules at any time. In that case, Airtel can't help at all. So, if you want to be safe, I'd recommend a roaming plan along with a normal plan.

For 2, you don't have to be in Gurgaon to port the SIM when you visit Kolkata. So, this is not an issue at all.

In general, I wouldn't recommend porting all the numbers to any other network. Things change. What is considered as good may not be the same after a few months.

Thanks. So I can port my numbers at Kolkata using my ID/Address proof of Gurgaon? When I got Jio postpaid, they also asked for my father’s address proof in addition.

Yes, you can port out at Kolkata using proof of Gurgaon.

For postpaid, it is understandable as the recovery (upon non-payment) can be troublesome if there is no proof on the location where we get the postpaid connection.

No experience with postpaid connections. Sorry. I am not even sure if postpaid would allow international roaming without a dedicated plan. My apology for providing wrong info.

Ha ha Jio is no better. I put 3 of my numbers as child in a Jio family plan. After many days, we noticed that no one was receiving incoming SMS or calls. Contacted Jio, no one was able to solve the problem for week, till someone mentioned that in Jio, child numbers cannot use Pay-as-you-go international roaming.

I suppose it's oddities like these that make Jio rather unpopular among postpaid users. They seem to have cheaper plans, but their postpaid user base remains lower than Airtel or Vi.
