This morning i was porting my sisters Jio number to Vi and i myself have been a Vi user since 2022 ,i know how there store staff lies to customers and asks them to port in to postpaid because they dont have “prepaid sim” in stock + minimum 4 month postpaid lock in period or something like that

There are two options after this
1.Listen to the crap Vi staff tells u in store and then Port in from Jio/Airtel/Bsnl/MTNL (LMAO who uses MTNL) to Vi postpaid and pay atleast 500₹ a month (451 plan and gst) for next 3 months or 90days and only then u can switch back to prepaid

2.Book prepaid sim from Vi’s website to get it home delivered

But……it couldn’t be any smoother (literally)

once u give ur details in the port to prepaid at home page ,the payment page would be stuck ,it would show options to pay but u just cant tap anywhere

This is even worse on desktop or Mac ,where the payment page doesn’t open at all

And mind you this isn’t a device fault
iPhone 11 running iOS 18.2.1 and the payment was stuck

MacOS sequoia latest update and the payment page was stuck

Windows 11 latest update and the payment page was stuck

In the end the only solution i found is to use Vi app

Log out any existing account and the log in as guest user from the sim u want to port into Vi

And then only select port to Vi inside the Vi app
Then the payment page works as intended

I have faced this issue in Jan 2024 and a year later they have still not fixed it

Hope it helps someone

I have always battled the lies with straight forward threat and it has always worked. I simply say, please share your employee number and details - I am going to make a formal complaint that this is what the store and employee wants to me do and I am therefore choosing an alternate provider.

Has worked atleast 5-6 times for my extended family/friends - to whom I have suggested the same and accompanied them on occasions.

Works for both getting prepaid from porting or postpaid to prepaid.

Well, it is more like a game who blinks first. And they know they are dealing with someone who knows stuff - so they are generally ok to close it off silently than make it a bigger deal. Also, when you say ok, I will talk to other outlets - its kind of known that they are not gaining anything and only possibly lose.

Next time look for those chatri guys. Here in my area they not only gave free FRC but also doing free recharges in inactive sims or few times ask for rs.50 for getting port code

udpate i went through this and when the guy came home it kept showing error like porting request failed ,sim is postpaid (which its not) ,sim card invalid

the guy tried 4 times heck even took me to the corridor where the lift is cause there isnt proper network on my doorstep ( i did give him my wifi)

none the less i will have to go to a Vi store now ,i really don't wanna fight with some teleco staff which is probably forced by their managers to behave this way

but then im not comfortable paying 2000rs for just 4 months of service
