PPPOE setup on Hathway Broadband - Cheating customers

Dumb ONT boxes like ZTE F601 or TP-Link XZ000 could help. If it gets too annoying, might get one of those in future.

@warpspeed if we have our own ONT boxes , can we overcome this reboot reset problem ? Have you tried anything of this sort before ? Any help is appreciated.

@Jaycyborg yes, you wont have reboot reset issue on 3rd party onu like TP-Link.

Hathway started new scam for this year , check here for complete details . I think they have a team who does research and come up with new ideas/ scams that can be formulated to charge customers.

@warpspeeed I have a ZTE F602W modem and TP-Link Archer C5 v4 Router both provided from Hathway. Is there any way I could enable transparent bridge mode on this setup without any Double NAT?

You need to enable DMZ in ZTE ONU and enter your TP-Link's IP there. Should work fine as long as we get public IPs.

I ended up getting TP-Link XZ000-G7 as my ZTE ONU was restarting on its own rather frequently. All I had to do was to clone GPON SN and VLAN ID from ONU. Working fine so far.

@warpspeed - Can you tell me how you did this? I have a ZTE F670L that appears to support a bridge mode and it has performed consistently for a few years now. But I'm unable to get it to work on bridge mode (Hathway also refuses to share the PPPoE password with me for whatever reason and are asking me to get a Static IP to get this working)

Hathway are also following in the footsteps of Airtel Xstream, it appears, as they also ask you to buy a Static IP for getting bridge mode activated lol

@tr1k0N4 - yes. I asked them what is the relationship between the two but they had no answer (shocker)

I made another thread about this - Hathway is asking for a Static IP to enable Bridge Mode on F670L. Can I do it on my own?

Any idea if you can help?
