problem configuring linksys wireless router

hey guys pls help me out.i am jagdish from mumbai and i have hathway cable based inter connection512 blastextra(7 GB).i have win xp and hathway guys had set my lan card settings like thisIP : 116.72.29.113Gateway : 116.72.16.5Subnet : 255.255.252.0it works absolutely fine when i have direct connection to PC.i bought a wireless router (Linksys wrt54g) to share internet connection with my Laptopswhen i try to set same settings in my router.i get a error message which stops me from even saving the settings to router"IP address and gateway are not at same subnet mask"which is true while ip has subnet as 29 the gate way has it as 15.when i make the subnets of both ip add and gateway as 29 or 15 the settings get saved but the internet does not work which is obviousas i have changed the settings given by hathway.Any techies around pls help me how shud i set the given settings in this linksys router.i also tried with automatic DHCP but internet does not worksregardsjags

i am currently using wrh54g but used to use 54g earlier so i am pretty sure that 54g should work as well. and in my case too the ip and gateway are different values.1 set the router to fixed/static ip & enable dhcp on it.2 for now, dont set wep or any other protection. let it be unsecured. we can secure it later.3 on your laptop in connection settings say use dhcp.4, reboot hathway modem, 43g and your machineit ought to work. of not then can you post some screenshots. following would be helpful1. screenshots of the router.2. screenshots of the n/w connection config windws...HTH

hi tandonthx for your suggestions.my problem is solved.the hathways guys asked me to set my subnet mask like this255.255.240.0and evrythings fine nowjags

Hi Did this work for you? I am having the same problem..IP 203.163.246.111Subnet 203.163.224.1Gateway 255.255.240.0 I am getting an error "IP and Gateway not at same subnet" Any ideas would be appreciated... ThanksMike

How you have connected cable from HWto Modem if any and then WIFI router ? ( try: connect to LAN PORT of WIFI instead of Internet PORT)start/ run type cmd type ipconfig/all Feedback.
