Problem In Tata Sky

Found a Humax at another smallish shop near around my location. Since warranty and service would be from Tata Sky direct I am hoping it will all go well. Still I would have liked to buy it from a bigger shop but they're all stocking Thomson.

HitMan,I'm also having the freeze problem with my thomson STB. I was chasing with Tata Sky people on this issue for the last two months. At last the engineer told me that he got the humex stb with him last week. He said he would need to transfer the asset on to my name and he says it takes some time. I stopped following up with him for the last one week. Now I'm wondering whether it is worth getting my STB replaced with Humex box? How do you rate Humex boxes when compared to Thomson in picture/audio quality? your opinion on this is appreciated..Sandeep.

sandeep i would strongly suggest you to pester the Tata Sky engineer to change your STB to Humax. You problem will vanish into thin air with a Humax box. Also you will notice that your signal level and quality improves with the Humax box.Today I was in for a surprise regarding my complain for the freezing problem. I am after Tata Sky to get the freezing problem rectified for the past 2 months (from the 23rd October, 2006) to be precise. Today I had the team leader of North East India visit me and he was asked by his boss in Guwahati to check all the signals and MER and BER levels. He noticed that on one of my ports (have a multi room subscription with a quad LNB) the BER level was below the acceptable level. He was then asked by his boss to ensure that the level is improved and so he had to upgrade my dish from a 60cm to a 90cm one. The level and quality shot up from 90. However the freezing problem did not go away and I am still facing the same problem. The person who visited me is still in Shillong and will visit me tomorrow. I hope that this time they agree to get the STB changed and I will be a very very satisfied customer for TataSky. I also have a few other friends who a waiting for my problems to be fixed before they go in for a Tata Sky connection. So if Tata Sky is listening then please get rid of Thomson to ensure a much larger subscriber base.

Hi Sandeep, I haven't used any of those thomson box so I can't provide u any opinion on picture and audio...But one thing i ssure tht humax boxes r not freezing like thomson...So it surely will be better if u can use humax box....picture and audio quality in humax box too is great...

Purchased a Thomson STB abt 3 weeks back and haven't come across any "freezing problem" so far. The only issue i had was the 'Home' menu hanging occasionally but that was fixed after the software upgrade. Picture and audio quality is pretty good(apart for that of zee-turner package). But after going through this thread, am wondering whether i've made a mistake as i specifically asked for Thomson and the signal strength and quality is slightly lower than some of you guys

One strange problem found in HUMAX STB. Cracking sound is heard in MTV sometimes.
