Problem using IRC

Guys I have started use IRC very recently and when ever i have connected to a server and a channel i'm experiencing frequent disconnection from the server and channel once in 5 min's so where do you think the problem is either in the server or my connection.For info i'm using mIRC client and on a bsnl 256 kbps Unlimited connection.

test using more popular servers like freenode.

I'll try freenode.The thing is many of the channels that i want to chat are in that server.

well you would get to know if the problem is with BSNL or that server itself.

I'm getting this problem even in freenode and also tried some other server's the problem remains.This problem occurs mainly while i'm downloading stuff using torrents could this have to do something with my problem.

right. torrent clients consume too many connections. so that might cause connections to break. it happens with instant messengers too (at least at my place). you might want to limit the number of connections made by your torrent client while you are trying to chat on IRC.
