Hi guys This is my first post here, though I've been hanging around for quite some time reading posts. I have a MTNL broadband connection, 256kbps/unlimited. Every two months, something or the other goes wrong with the connection and it takes at least a week to get it corrected (last time, it took over a month). Today, for instance, the ADSL light would just keep on blinking without getting stable, and the LAN light wouldn't come on (I've checked all the obvious solutions - plugging in wire, etc.) Now I don't want to get rid of this connection because I get good speeds. Also, because of a glitch at their end, I get download speeds of 2mbps even though my connection is 256kbps unlimited (I upgraded from a 2mbps connection, so perhaps that's why)
But I work on the internet so its vital for me to stay online. So I want a secondary connection that I can use as a backup whenever MTNL starts giving me trouble. Obviously I want something cheap (say 400-600 bucks a month). The most obvious choice would be Airtel. But they don't offer their services in my locality. Next is Tata Indicom, but all their plans are Rs. 1000+. That's more than the money I'm willing to spend. Next is Reliance Broadband. They have decent plans but I'm not sure of their quality...any opnions on that? Or should I get one of those wireless USB modems sold by Airtel and Indicom? Are they any good as backup internet? Or should I simply get one more MTNL connection (keeping the current one)? Any ideas, suggestions would be of great help guys. Thanks
