Sify Broadband
Hey ppl . i have the sify always on unlimited 256 kbps connection(EY 56) and i just got a wireless router a couple of weeks ago. Now the problem is that when i connect my pc via ethernet, directly without the router, the internet is working perfectly. But as soon as i connect the pc via my router(ethernet connection), the only thing i can do is log in to sify, and sign in to msn and gtalk. surfing rarely happens and torrents download at speeds of 2k. surprisingly the wireless connection on my laptop is breezy fast, and download speeds of 30 kbps are always available.the surprising thing is that i have a wep key for the wireless, so nobody can be stealing my bandwidth via wireless. and since the client is signing in, and so are gtalk and msn, the settings in the router or the computer cannot be wrong.someone please help me out. im contemplating changing to exatt or pacenet, if this is something to do with the broadband client blocking the router.... please help :O

Change TCP/IP settings in computer to auto select TCP/DNS portsand enter opendns 208.67.222.222 and/or 208.67.220.220 in modem .try PING in both conditions, to check the problem.

help!!!! now even wifi is dropping pings!!!!! working fine on my n95 cellphone... but only the 2 vista systems are acting up!!!!!!!!!!

Strange! i have been using Linksys wireless router/sify combination for the past 6 months and it is workin smoothly.D/L speed is 30 KBps and surfing is excellent as well.

SOLUTION FOUND!its working fine now, there was a problem when the router would allot ip addresses to the two devices, like 192.168.1.01 and .02.i just made the settings manual and gave my own random ip addresses and put in the dns and voila!!! was ready to go...weird but then its windows and even worse sify broadband that we're talking about!
