To be started under the scheme Public Bicycle Sharing System (PBS), the cycle rental system would act as a feeder service for first to last mile connectivity when used by people to commute to other public transport system like metro. The process to be followed is simple – Get yourself registered, pick the bicycle from the station, paddle to reach their destination and park the bicycle at rent-a-cycle stand near the destination.
An attendant at the stand will rent out the bicycle at the charge of Rs 10 per hour. All of the bicycles are new are being issued with the imported helmets. Before taking the bicycle, however, people will be required to submit original driver’s licence or voter ID with the attendant which will be returned when the bicycle is returned.
The facility will be available in summers from 8 am to 8 pm from Monday to Saturday and it will close by 4 pm on Sundays. In winters, the closing time will reduce by an hour. Also, no cycle will be issued one hour prior to the closing time. Cycle shelters will also be closed on Gazetted holidays.
