He is wanting to have the Gold HDMI cable than the one provided with Tata Sky. Quality will definitely improve with Gold HDMI, not sure if it enhances your Tatasky quality.... but surely if you are trying to connect to Blu Ray Player and replacing it with normal HDMI to GOLD.

Not at all, It will be exactly the same

HDMI uses Binary (1s and 0s) to transmit Audio and video, a cheap $1 cable will perform just as well as a $100 cable

No it does not make any difference with picture quality with old set up box of tata sky if you buy HDMI cable. As I said before, rca is based on analog circuit whereas HDMI is based on digital circuit which is advanced technology. RCA to HDMI will just change port not result.
If you go for new setup box of tata sky(HD), you may not be satisfied with picture quality because lots of channels are not HD ready but you will get definitely better result with Star plus, Discovery, national geographic than before you had with old setup box. Only these three channels are HD ready in india.

As armaan_99 said, you will get HD result with blu-ray player with HDMI.

Again you are not understanding the question...

I did get a good quality HDMI cable. But the reason I did that was that, with the Tata Sky provided cable, I had the problem that the screen would go blank after an hour or 2 hrs of viewing. The component input did not have this problem. So i got the new HDMI cable and have not seen the issue since. To specifically answer the question. No, there is no difference in picture quality.

Thank you for the answers. i will stick with TS hdmi then.wonder if acc1444 still got it? :P
