Hi All, I live in Chennai and had a BSNL HOME UL 750 connection installed a while back. I have been getting download speeds of around 30kBps(torrents) and 40kBps(link-removed). Is this the normal speed for this connection? I feel that this is a bit less as I was expecting 50-60kBps. Does anyone get better speeds than this? Please let me know.FYI: My setup uses a Netgear wireless router and a PCI wireless card.

Unlimited 750, 256 kbps

Maximum speed = 256 kbps = 256/8 = 32 KBps

Unlimited 1350, 512 Kbps

Maximum speed = 512 kbps = 512/8 = 64 KBps

I have a Unlimited 750 connection. I am surprised to hear you got 40 KBps. May be you are mentioning the speed by a download manager. They normally give exaggerated values. Whatever method we use, it is impossible to get anything more than the speed cap. But we can optimize our setting to achieve maximum speed.

Try a speed test from speedtest.net or a download from Microsoft and post the values. The speed you get is normal.

You're expecting 50-60 KBps from a 256 Kbps line?

he is a newbie guys ........ ;)

Thanks for the replies and yes, I was using a download manager when I got the 40kBps speeds
