Hi everyone,

I recently switched from Jio to Airtel and I'm using the Nokia G2425G model ONT. Through this forum, I learned about bridge mode, so I decided to try enabling it on my connection.

I contacted Airtel support to request bridge mode, and when I made the change in the backend, I received a message saying that I don’t have access. The support team mentioned the usual static IP requirements, stating they could not make the change for me. However, after this conversation, I noticed that the bridge mode had actually been enabled on my connection in the backend, even though they said it couldn’t be done.

The support team also mentioned that my connection uses CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT) and is not a dynamic model ONT. They said that in order to use bridge mode properly, I would need a static IP.

Can anyone confirm if this is accurate? Also, I would like to set up my AX73 router with the bridge mode configuration. If more details are needed, I'm happy to provide them.

Thanks in advance!

When i see the backend using the http://192.168.1.1/ page previously it showed Route mode and did not let me to change to Bridge mode said not enough permission.

Then i contacted airtel and they tried changing it seems but then said cant do as this is CGnat ONT and needs static but the backend shows as BRIDGE MODE on all ports now

go to network -> wan and see the connection lists from dropdown menu at the top of the page. there should be a bridge wan connection profile added.

No it does not have that only shows , TR069 & VOIP in WAN connection list . So it means Bridge is still not activated ?

Upon reading further posts seems airtel made CGNAT and i don't have Public dynamic ip as the Technician said ? So static IP is my only way now ?

bridged mode can still be enabled (w/o purchasing static ip), just that airtel won't do it for free. in that case your own router would still be behind airtel's cgnat ofc, you'd have other customizability you have with your own router.

My English isn’t very good, so I apologize if I misunderstand.

As Abhishek mentioned, I can still enable bridge mode even if I’m behind CGNAT. Is that correct? If so, I’ll try reaching out to them either by email (using an address I found in the forum) or by calling them again.

Bridge mode has nothing to do with CGNAT, brdr, so please stop finding correlations between the two.
And the made up story about static-IP-is needed-for-bridge-mode is just upselling by Airtel CC, nothing else, unless of course, you actually need a static IP.
Secondly, what's the behaviour of the ports? Are you able to access internet from those? Asking as all the ports are in bridge mode now.
