How is the reliability of Tata Indicom broadband in Chennai? They have a relatively decent plan of Rs. 1750 for 750 kbps unlimited, which also applies to commercial customers. Commercial rates are important to me since I'm putting my software development company on this connection. Airtel, my current ISP, charges Rs. 2,222 for a 256 kbps unlimited connection. :(I've seen some reports of outages and poor customer service on Tata Indicom. Can anyone from Chennai let me know on how their service is in terms of reliability, speed etc? Thanks in advance.

I can confirm that they are very reliable here, of course down times do happens once every couple of months other than that they are very reliable.

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I was talking about commercial rates, which are much higher than home rates for Airtel.Tata seems like a good option then based on the couple of responses here. If anyone has additional experiences, especially if you are running an office on their connection, please share. Thanks again.

Well as far as the commercial rates are concerned you are pretty much limited with tata indicom as other companies tariffs are far worst than Tata indicom.

Thanks Prakash. Are you using Tata Indicom in Chennai? What do you think about their reliability and customer service?

It does'nt matter whether its Chennai or anywhere else - if broadband is delivered using overhead cable then you can safely conclude it is not reliable.

Look at what is happening to cable-TV cables which are run overhead.

In my opinion, Airtel is much more reliable because the cables are underground and delivered to your computer room within a PVC pipe.

Tata Indicom plans maybe cheaper but can your business tolerate downtime because of the dangers of running overhead cables? For eg, if there is a cable cut, it might take down your line for a few hours.

I am not aware of how Reliance deliver broaband (underground or overhead).

In my opinion they are very reliable the cable cuts do happen very rarely once every year or once every couple of year so its all good for me. But considering how much other companies have priced their plans so not a lot of options.
