The Local cable operator has shut the broadband in my area as Reliance hasn't paid him his rent since a long time. It has been 45 days so far.
He also did it earlier in 2015 when the connection remained down for nearly 3 months.
Has this happened in other cities as well?
Reliance Broadband is delivered through local operator in your area? Cool. My speeds have been dropped massively but the connection is working. No cable operator is involved in the delivery of the service in my sector.
I even have Den, Tikona and BSNL in my area but such is my addiction to that 2mbps sweet spot that I can't survive those FUP connections.
Finally got Lyf handset after 45 days of survival on 2G.
New internet connections in india all often start with giving customers problems or headache, first few months are usually filled with one issue or another.
The way internet is currently sucks and needs to upgraded to globally decentralized and completely overcome ISP's so you no longer need ISP's at all but it will need someone develop a machine that will be on everyone's terrace and function like an ISP and will p2p with all other machines across the world via fiber, wireless or any other means over ipv6 only. This means all you will need to do is buy the machine and activate it with sim card for identification purposes (so the governments wont complain) and connect the machine to your computer or server and you are online free forever with download upload speeds in gigabytes.
This will spell the end of era of ISP's, silly FUP's, costly bills, speed limits, put end to possible cons and frauds, throttling, etc. if someone develops such a technology.
