hi

I tried installing the ec 1260 modem ( for reliance broadband net connect) on my laptop with win vista (32 bit) business os. These are the steps i followed:

1. plug in the usb modem and execute the autorun.exe file
2.then "Huawei Mobile" h/w is detected and win searches for appropriate driver and does not find one.

even when i manually select the location where the drivers were installed (c:\program file), win says it cannot find an appropriate driver. I did not get a driver in huawei site. So i did and bit of r n d"(with my little knowledge) to find out the issue. I found the hardware id of Huawei Mobile on device manager as "USB\VID_12d1&PID_140B&REV_0000". I searched for matching ids on the driver (*.inf) files installed but did not find a matching one. for ex. i found the following ids.
USB\VID_12d1&PID_140B&MI_01
USB\VID_12d1&PID_140B&MI_02
So i changed these lines on the inf file to one (present in device manager - in bold letters above).

when i did a "reinstall driver" now, windows did find the driver but i encountered the problem . device cannot start code 10. I believe that the problem in not having the correct driver or the firmware on board the ec1260 is incorrect that i does not have a matching id on the driver files given.

expert guys pls. help me out on this. Also pls let me know of the "hardware ids" u get while trying to install the "huawei mobile" modem.

Thanks

Just plug in the modem in the usb port...wait for a while....open my computer & double click on the reliance drive (ec1260 as a mass storage device) & then double click on autorun.exe......You wil get the taskbar notifications such as found new hardware Huawei mobile device....data interface etc etc...After all drivers are installed open the dialler from desktop shortcut or again through my computer but when you double click the autorun.exe file this time the dialler would open-up with full network...then just connect !!!!!

All you need to do is :(If the dialer software is already installed, please uninstall it and try the following)1. Insert the data card (Huawei EC 1260) into the USB port and allow the drive to get detected. Open the drive from My Computer.2. Right click on the Autorun.exe and set it up to run on compatability mode with Windows XP. (Rt Click on the file and go to>Properties>Compatability tab>Compatability mode)3. Similarly, set all the other .exe files on Windows XP compatability mode. There is one 'setup.exe' file inside the folder 'Reliance Netconnect'. Set that up too on compatability mode.4. Remove the drive appropriately. Restart the system and put the device back into the USB port.5. If the installation does not begin automatically, run the Autorun.exe file manually and allow the software to get installed. This time when you open the dialer, it will detect the network. All the best !!!!
