@Lobogris yeah that's the main disadvantage of ftth ,the use of tdma for upstream traffic,while in docsis separate frequencies are allocated for both streams .
 
It is up to each ISP to decide. Depending on the total load and other services provided like video on demand.

So I think the reason Jio upload speeds are low is because of the type of PON technology they use. They’re probably using Asymmetric 10G-EPON which has 10 Gbps downlink and 1 Gbps uplink speed. They may also be using Asymmetric 10G-PON which has 10 Gbps down and 2.5 Gbps uplink speed, the former is more likely. The symmetric versions of these technologies are more expensive because of more expensive OLT and ONTs. So now I think it makes sense to me why they have upload speed caps.

Jio decision to cap upload speed have nothing to with network capacity or anything like that. To counter load on network they already have data limits.

It's purely their inner decision most likely based on services they may offer in future and keeping upload low till that. A year back during trial period the Jio engineer was saying they will also provide cctv facilities.
