Reliance Jio GigaTV Set Top Media Box Announced

Do you have it running on an Android TV? I've tried the Android TV specific APK on an nvidia shield, but all I've ever gotten is 480p (just like their mobile apps calling it HD).
yup..... all their HD channels are 720p...... using it on my android boxes(shield and bee link) for more than a year. you get HD content on Hotstar, ditto, airtel and many other apps....

But that's 720p, where's the 1080 for android boxes? If they can't provide 1080p, why do we think they'll even provide 4k... that's what I've been trying to say, lol.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but all they're talking about is supporting 4K resolution in their set top box. That's it.
Do you really think they'll provide actual 4K over streaming?

Heck, do they even provide 1080p or even 720p streaming right now in their apps? They don't.

I think you have explicitly asked for 720p....
Hotstar has some 1080p content.....

for 4K try Netflix.

Fair enough, but I still don't consider it 720p as the bitrate isn't high at all.

I'm not interested in 4k with Netflix, but if JioTV can do 1080p (or at least same like DTH), that would help a bit.

There's an APK, T h o p T V, IDK if you know about it. The app uses JioTV and Airtel TV servers and streams Live TV from it. The UI is better for android TV's and there's no need of logging in via Jio ID or Airtel Number. I think the APK also has Ditto TV, But you won't need that because Ditto is plain garbage. As far as quality is concerned the highest that JioTV offers is 720p. You can select the quality of stream in ThopTV and for some reason the 720P on T H O P T V is better than High Quality on Official JioTV app.

The servers uses aliases like Jasmine for JIOTV, Aster for Airtel, and Daisy for Ditto TV

I won't link the APK but it can be directly downloaded (T H O P TV Website)/latest.apk

Also, If you want to watch live TV on your PC, google : "Airtel M3U8" and use the second link and use some player to play the m3u8 streams, Safari can play it out of the box
