I have a ZTE zxdsl 831 DSL modem installed by the TI people.I have been using this connection problemless for the last 7 months or so. I have 2 PCs and a laptop, and the connection is distributed through a Netgear wireless router. The NETGEAR router is used in BRIDGED mode and the ZTE router is used to dial using PPPOE. Of late, the router has been acting strange, I loose my internet connection every 20 minutes or so.But all the lights on the ZTE dsl modem seem to be green, and also when i check my usage later, it seems i have been charged for the time. Till now, I thought it was some problem with the external line, but now I have beginning to have doubts that either the NETGEAR or the modem is malfunctioning, because when the connection loss happens, I cant even bring up the router(ZTE modem) page (192.168.1.1). My question is, if the ZTE failed, can i use the NETGEAR wireless router in place of the DSL Model they gave me?My connection is prepaid, and I dont have static IP address.I DO not login through any page, it is done through the modem's PPPoE. Can I get rid of the ZTE modem?
