Router suggestion at around ₹5k?

My Archer A6 V3 finally died yesterday and it does not want to turn on anymore. It had died a few times in the past but always turned on after a few hours. So, I assume it has finally bid good bye to me.

So, I am looking for a new router and can spend around 5k at max, but would still prefer a good cheaper option.

I am thinking about Archer C6 which is available at 2.5k right now. However, I was wondering if I should consider buying Wi-Fi 6 router now? I am not sure if it is needed though.

I might switch to 500 Mbps plan on JioFiber, so will C6 be fine with that? Or do I need Wi-Fi 6 router for proper performance?

Usually, only 5-6 devices are connected to the router. At max, it goes 8 devices at a time.

Will Wi-Fi 6 routers, such as AX10 and AX23 worth it?

got an AX53 v1 from Amazon and it seems to have many problems when used as a router.

• IPv6 is second class citizen, most features exist without v6 support such as Wireguard limited to v4, bandwidth control in Guest Network doesn't work if v6 is enabled etc.
• It is forcing Google's DNS server in RA RDNSS, my adblocking for family devices just breaks, this issue is known to them but no work.
• won't accept Link Local Addresses in custom DNS, you have to put a GUA and even after putting GUA it just propogates Google's in RDNSS field.
• QoS is only accessible through their App for which you have to make an TP-Link cloud account.
• no OpenWrt suppory at the time of writing, possible in future for v1 having 512 mb ram.
• and for god's sake TP-Link just stop this v1, v2, v3.69 bullcrap, just launch a new model. No transparency of specs datasheets for different versions and sellers not listing versions just makes it worse.

Pros -

• will work fine if you are not into customizing/tinkering settings, but if thats the case then just stick with your ISP provided equipment.
• WiFi range and speeds are good.

Conclusion -
If you are buying it to replace ISP provided equipment to gain more control over your network, totally not recommended.

Wanted an AP to connect to my OpenWrt router VM.
but went with a router supporting AP mode cuz in future I will not operate that VM in current home and will put AX53 in router mode.

So currently testing router mode and its just straight up crap, AP mode is fine but missing some features.

Everyone recommended AX53 and I also thought TP-Link being a big brand will just work well but the most basic features don't seem to work.

found anothet bug.
AX53 doesn't renew WAN DHCP lease after 30 mins specified period by Jio's DHCP server and as a result the leased IP becomes stale after 1 hr.
I have to restart the router 2-3 times after every 1 hr.

1st restart -- works for 1 hr -- 2nd restart -- works for 1 hr -- 3rd restart -- works forever until manually restart.

If i manually restart it now then this cycle continues.

Earlier I was skeptical it was an ONT issue but no ONT remains in O5 state and to recheck I plugged in the WAN cable from ONT directly to laptop and setup VLAN and clone MAC there and it renews DHCP leases as usual.

I did reset and upgrade but that doesn't fix the issue.

Anyone operating AX53 with JioFiber facing similar issue?

Ah, the good, old Jio-internet-stops-working-after-an-hour issue!
Yes brdr, I myself faced and documented this issue when I replaced my home's Jio HGW with a G3 and an Archer AX53. I had to release and renew the DHCP lease to resolve this and it behaved exactly as you described it!
Later, I came back to Bangalore and my parents removed the setup and put back the Jio HGW as internet was too unstable with my custom setup.
I hate it when such instability happens

fml man now I see their forum is filled with Archer series suffering from WAN DHCP problems, so its not just Jio this time(rare occurence).

I will just use this in AP mode and call it a day. Don't want more unnecessary problems in life.

Que - are their other series such as Deco and business series also this bad? having these small frustrating problems mentioned in previous msgs and also privacy problems like phoning home and sending data to Avira etc.
