Router Suggestions for Airtel Broadband?

@ijsa That is what I was thinking.. I had already tried changing the Wi-Fi channels on the Binatone router. Channel 1 is oversaturated in my place looks like everybody here is using it. Channel 8 is kind of clear and I have my LOC Tenda router on that.

WiFi Analyzer was recommending Channel 13 but the shitty Binatone router doesn't have that. Even though the signal strength isn't that poor for Binatone the speeds just don't come probably due its design with no antenna.


Anyway, I got the Mi 3C router today. Their delivery is quite fast. I order in the morning arounf 4AM and received it at 6PM today itself.
I will try that out and see if I get better results. Thanks for the suggestions

Do share your experirence of Mi 3C vis-à-vis Tenda....

As you say (Binatone router) signal is strong but still speeds are slow....... then there is a fair chance that your ISP might be the culprit.....

@ijsa Well the speeds on LAN are perfectly fine with Binatone. So, not sure about that.

I have been testing out the Mi 3C router and the speeds seem to have improved. But can't say at the moment as today Airtel had some connection issues from its side.

@ijsa The signal strength has improved with Mi 3C but Tenda gives the same strength as 3C. Basically 3C is a stylish version of budget routers. The main thing is I don't face frequent disconnections with 3C.

About the speed, the issue seems to be with Airtel where only sometimes I get the speeds close 24Mbps (which I pay for). Most of the time its fluctuating between 10-20Mbps sometimes even slunking to as low as 1-3 Mbps. I don't think these are related to signal strength as even when I am standing in front of the router these speed fluctuations occur.

i said, i am not using airtel internet connection on my pcs as i am stuck on a crappy 4mbps adsl right now. i only have it because i use the landline and static ip helps in accessing cctv remotely (something that is not even used much). airtel has been useless for me for a pretty long time. any upload causes packet loss which then makes browsing impossible. so i just pay 599-150+99+taxes for landline and an internet connection that is just connected to the cctv cameras at my place.

Static IP with Airtel? I have got a dynamic IP with me can I ask them to change it? And 599+150+99+taxes (probably 18%) for 4Mbps that is almost as much as I am paying for 24Mbps (not that I get that speed always).

So, are you using Excitel full time now or have you got more connections?

airtel charge 99 rupees for static ip. unless you can get it for free through haggling/bargaining.
i am currently using excitel and abs on a load balancer. abs has been pretty crap. so would probably discontinue when three month subscription is over next week.
would probably end up connecting airtel back on the router and use it for backup for when excitel goes down.
